When it comes to chicken inasal, one of the go-to spots for Filipinos is JT’s Manukan Grille. Founded in 2003 by actor Joel Torre and his wife Cristy Azcona-Torre, the Filipino restaurant chain has been serving grilled chicken marinated the Ilonggo way. Through the years, it garnered a great following, allowing it to grow from its space in Quezon City to over 39 branches in the Philippines. Now, it is going overseas as it is set to open a restaurant in Singapore.
The said store, the brand’s 40th, is set to open on June 25, 2024, at the Asian Food Mall in Lucky Plaza in Singapore. The opening of the store is made possible with the restaurant’s partnership Asian Food Mall.
Established in 1996, Asian Food Mall is a mecca for great Asian cuisines. Known as the first food court along Orchard Road, it also houses “some of the biggest QSR brands in Asia: Jollibee, Shakey's Pizza Parlour, and Potato Corner,” and now, JT's Manukan Grille.
“We are excited for the arrival of JT’s Manukan Grille to the vibrant and diverse food scene in Singapore,” says Wong Ban Ming, Asian Food Mall’s managing director. “Together with Joel Torre, we look forward to satisfying the taste buds of the locals and the Filipino community here, bringing the authentic taste of Bacolod chicken inasal to the Lion City.”
As expected, JT’s Manukan Grille will offer the same delicious dishes that have made the brand a favorite to locals and tourists alike.
“This is a great leap forward for our brand. We are excited to be bringing the humble chicken inasal and share our love for Filipino food to the global food hub of Southeast Asia,” says Joel. “It marks a step towards our vision to be an international brand and represent our country abroad.”
