Livestock vendor gunned down in Negros Occidental


BACOLOD CITY – A livestock vendor was gunned down by three unidentified persons in Barangay Amayco, Murcia, Negros Occidental on Friday, May 31.

Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Jonel Peruelo of Barangay Amayco.

Police Capt. Rodney Sarona, deputy chief of the Murcia Municipal Police Station, said the victim was eating snacks in a sari-sari store when the suspects arrived and shot him from behind.

The victim succumbed to multiple bullet wounds, according to Sarona.

Recovered from the crime scene were eight empty shells, a deformed hard bullet, a deformed bullet metallic jacket, a fired bullet of a .45 caliber firearm, and three empty shells of a .9mm caliber firearm.

Sarona said they are exploring possible angles in the incident to establish the motive such as business-related or grudges.

He said the victim was engaged in buy and sell of livestock.
