Data from the City Health Office (CHO) said five new cases of Covid-19 were reported here as of May 30.
In a statement through Benitez’s spokesperson, Caesar Distrito, the mayor directed the CHO to monitor the situation and prepare the necessary health response plan regarding this health issue, as “Covid-19 is still around the corner.”
Recent increase in Covid-19 cases were noted in some countries due to the “FLiRT” variant.
“As this is still a variant of monitoring, close surveillance is highy done in Bacolod and the entire country,” Distrito said.
The CHO encouraged the people to wear masks in an enclosed setting, especially if they have flu or any respiratory tract infection, if they are immuno-compromised, senior citizen, or young children, and if they are in a medical facility (clinic, hospital, birthing homes, and laboratories).
It also urged those who are sick to stay at home.
The practice of good hygiene by covering mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, washing or sanitizing hands often, and frequent disinfection of touched surfaces were highly encouraged.
The CHO also encouraged outdoor gathering, purification of indoor air, and getting vaccinated against flu, pneumonia, and Covid-19 whenever possible.
