Benitez, in a media interview, said that this move allows pedestrians, joggers, and bikers to use the 1.2-kilometer stretch of Lacson St.
The route from Lacson St. from Ramos to South Capitol Road will be closed to all motorized vehicles from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. every Sunday, he said.
As a result, he said people can enjoy four hours of walking, biking, and explore other community activities.
Benitez said that they would also talk to business establishments in the area to get their sentiments about the car-free initiative.
He the initiative is also part of the environment month here where they promote good air quality and raise public awareness about the benefits of walking, jogging, running, and cycling as substantial ways to travel.
