'Wala sa utak ko': Raffy Tulfo not eyeing presidency in 2028
Senator Raffy Tulfo on Thursday, May 9 said he has no plans to run for president in the May 2028 elections.
"Wala sa utak ko ang pagtakbo as president sa 2028. Naka-focus ako ngayon sa Senado, (Running for president is not on my mind. I am now focused on the Senate)," Tulfo said in an interview on ANC's Headstart.
"I'm enjoying being a senator. I'm enjoying as much being a senator," Tulfo stressed.
Tulfo also said entertaining such idea will only bring headache.
"Sakit sa ulo lang 'yan. Sa ngayon pa nga lang, ang dami ko nang sakit sa ulo (That's just a headache. For now, I have so much that gives me headache). Left and right ang daming nagagalit sa akin (there are so many people that hate me) because of all these surveys," he said.
Tulfo also pointed out he is being severely bashed by some fake news in the internet and social media.
Recent surveys have shown Tulfo and Vice President Sara Duterte leading the preferential surveys on possible presidential candidates in 2028.
Though is unsure of running for the Senate, Tulfo said gunning for the highest post in the land.
"Sa 2028, re-election at the most ang pwedeng gagawin ko (at most, I'm considering running for re-election in 2028)," Tulfo said.
At the same time, Tulfo said he is not stopping his younger brother, ACT-CIS Representative Erwin Tulfo, from running for the Senate.
Erwin Tulfo also emerged in the top list of preferred senatorial candidates based on Pulse Asia's March survey.
"That's his decision. I cannot stop him. Hindi ko siya hawak sa leeg. Kung gusto niyang tumakbo, nanalo sya (I don't hold him by the neck. If he wants to run and he wins), so be it," he said.
"If he doesn't want to run, okay din. So it's not up to me," the lawmaker added.
"Kahit na mas matanda ako sa kanya hi di ko sya pipigilan sa kung anong gusto nyang gawin (Even though I am older than him, I won't stop him from what hr wants to do). Although, I can give him advice on certain matters...but if about politics, I don't because pareho kaming (we are both) politicians," Tulfo said.
