PBBM, First Lady Liza provide aid in Zamboanga Peninsula


President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos arrived in Zamboanga City on Thursday, May 9, to spearhead the distribution of millions of pesos worth of assistance from the national government.

A total of P60 million was given to Zamboanga City and three other provinces of Zamboanga Peninsula.

Zamboanga City received P10-million worth of assistance while Zamboanga Sibugay received P20.3 million.

The provinces of Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur received P14.2 million and P14.35 million, respectively.

Marcos led a program at the Summit Center in Barangay Tetuan where he distributed financial assistance to farmers and fisherfolk from Zamboanga City.  The beneficiaries were affected by the dry spell from the El Niño phenomenon.

The President was accompanied by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr., Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo, Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Zamboanga City Rep. Mannix Dalipe, and Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe.

The First Lady arrived at the Western Mindanao State University in Zamboanga City to head the LAB for All Caravan, a program which provides free medical and legal services to its beneficiaries.

The arrival of the presidential couple started the delivery of millions of pesos worth of financial assistance by the national government under the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair.

From May 10 to 11, at least 49 government agencies will participate in the delivery of services and assistance under the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair caravan in a Zamboanga City high school.
