Mayor Ben Abalos and Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos, together with the City Health Department (CHD), led the tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (TDAP) vaccination.

Mayor Abalos also encouraged all pregnant women in the city to get their TDAP vaccine so they could protect the baby in their womb as early as possible.

According to CHD head Dr. Arnold Abalos, studies have shown that newborn babies are immediately protected against TDAP if the mothers are given the vaccine during their third trimester.

The local government also said that the TDAP vaccination is included in its Safe Motherhood Program.

The Department of Health (DOH) said that pertussis is preventable, so it highly recommends that the public get vaccinated so they can fight the disease.

DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa reassured the public that the TDAP vaccine holds certification of product registration (CPR) and is readily available commercially, simplifying the process for adults seeking vaccination.
