Laborer shot dead in front of wife


BACOLOD CITY – A 68-year-old laborer was shot dead in front of his wife in Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, May 7.

Police Capt. Armel Lasap, Moises Padilla police chief, said the couple had just arrived in their house when three unidentified persons approached and greeted them.

The victim responded to them and shot him for unknown reason.

The suspects fled and the victim succumbed to bullet wounds in the face and chest. His wife was unharmed.

Recovered from the crime scene were fired bullets .45 caliber bullets.

Lasap said they have yet to establish the motive of the killing but they do not discount the possibility that it could be another insurgency-related incident.

On April 25, the New People’s Army (NPA) killed a man alleged to be a government asset in Barangay Inolingan in Moises Padilla.
