How can a PhilHealth member avail heat-related illnesses benefit package?

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) explained on Thursday, May 9, the benefit package that includes increased cover services for heat-related illnesses.

In a Bagong Pilipinas interview, Philhealth Acting Vice President Corporate Affairs Group Rey Baleña discussed the heat-related illnesses, such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion benefits for its members.

“We have a PhilHealth benefit package for that and that costs P8,450. Before it was only P6,500 but effective February 14, we actually increased by 50 percent in most of our case rate packages,” said Baleña.

He explained that the package does not only cover hospital charges but also includes professional fees of attending physicians — this means that both the hospital charges and doctor's fees will be covered which will provide financial relief for members in need of medical treatment.

“So our members can hope that both the hospital charges and the doctor's fees are covered,” the official added.

How can an eligible member avail?

Moreover, he noted that being a registered Filipino PhilHealth member qualifies them for these benefits.

“Under the Universal Healthcare Law, all Filipinos with PhilHealth and affiliated with that, you are immediately eligible for Philhealth benefits,” he said.

Given this, he pointed out that every time they need to visit the hospital to get treatment, their Philhealth benefit will be deducted before member can pay.
