Gallup survey reveals 'Queen of Tears' No. 1 TV, OTT program in Korea anew

The hit drama “Queen of Tears,” starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, emerged as the No. 1 favorite TV and OTT program in South Korea in April.

Polling firm Gallup Korea conducted its monthly survey to know the favorite broadcast video programs in South Korea.

Gallup Korea conducted the survey from April 23 to 25 among 1,001 respondents aged 18 and older nationwide in South Korea.

“Queen of Tears” was chosen by the respondents as the No. 1 favorite TV, OTT program with 13. 1 percent.

This is the second straight month that “Queen of Tears” topped the survey. In March, it was No. 1 with 4.2 percent.

Comparing the two months, “Queen of Tears” surged by 8.9 percentage points.

Korean dramas which surpassed 10 percent in the same survey in the past 10 years are “Reborn Rich” (16.6 percent), “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” (16.4 percent), “The Glory” (14.8 percent), “Queen of Tears” (13.1 percent), “Sky Castle” (13 percent), “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” (12.6 percent), “Descendants of the Sun” (12.3 percent), “Jang Bo-ri Is Here!” (12.1 percent), “Empress Ki” (11.8 percent), “My Love From The Star” (11.5 percent) and “Seoyoung, My Daughter” (12.2 percent).

The last episode of "Queen of Tears" set the record for the highest tvN drama in history.

Here are the top 20 favorite TV, OTT programs for April in South Korea, according to the Gallup Korea survey:

1. Queen of Tears (tvN, drama) - 13.1%

2. Running Man (SBS, entertainment) - 2%

5. Chief Detective 1958 (MBC, drama) - 1.6%

6. I am a Natural Person (MBN, current affairs) - 1.5%

- The Burning Roses (MBN, entertainment) 1.5%

8. Beauty and the Mr. Romantic (KBS2, drama) - 1.4%

9. My Little Old Boy (SBS, entertainment) - 1.3%

- King of Korean Singers (MBN, entertainment) - 1.3%

- Lovely Runner (tvN, drama) - 1.3%

- Suji & Uri (KBS1, drama) - 1.3%

13. World Theme Travel (EBS, current affairs) - 1.2%

- The Two Sisters (KBS2, drama) - 1.2%

- The Third Marriage (MBC, drama) - 1.2%

16. I am SOLO (ENA/SBS Plus, entertainment) - 1.1%

17. Miss Trot 3 (TV Chosun, entertainment) - 1%
