In a statement, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard "Dick" Gordon highlighted the significant role and commended the two million volunteers and staff of the PRC.

These are composed of two million volunteers and staff, as well as members of 191 national societies, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and International Committee of the Red Cross.

Gordon acknowledged those who have lost their lives or risked their lives across the globe to uphold humanity.

"The highest accolade that we can receive in our line of work is the positive change we did in the lives of those we serve. I commend our volunteers at the Philippine Red Cross for being active players of peace, for staying strong, for stepping up, and for providing hope when it might seem so far out of reach," Gordon said.

"You are the backbone of our organization and you make our solidarity so powerful that I know we can always prevail over any adversity," he added.

The event presented an opportunity to acknowledge the life-saving efforts of every humanitarian worker within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, contributing to the safety and well-being of people worldwide.

PRC's celebration of WRCRC Day will feature discussions on various services, including mass casualty incident preparation and management, first aid demonstrations, and health caravans.
