"Anything is possible," Lakas-CMD President House Speaker Martin Romualdez said on Wednesday, May 8, when asked if they are open to forge an alliance with former president Rodrigo Duterte's party Partido ng Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban).

Romualdez also bared that they are "still open for discussion" on forging an alliance with Vice President Sara Duterte's party—Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

He added that while it is open for discussion, they will consult it with Marcos' political party PFP.

Romualdez made the statement on the same day Lakas CMD and PFP are to forge alliance ahead of the 2025 midterm elections.

Romualdez said they will make an announcement "as the days come along" on the "major political parties" that will be part of the alliance.

The House Speaker also stated that Lakas-CMD and PFP will field a full slate for the 2025 midterms elections.

He disclosed that there are many considerations to be included in the slate, and one of them are those in favor of the Charter change.

"That would be one," he said when asked if being in favor of the constitutional reform would be a qualification to be included in the senatorial slate.

The senatorial line up is still undergoing the process, Romualdez further said, adding that they will announce it at the proper time after proper consultation.

On May 3, Marcos expressed hope to ally with other political parties this year ahead of the midterm elections.

The President said the PFP has already formed a steering committee to have enough time to form a coalition with the other political parties by October 2024.
