A man was arrested by members of the Pasay city police Quick Response Team (QRT) for selling an unlicensed firearm on May 6.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said Pasay City Police Chief Col. Mario Mayames reported the arrest of alias Emilian, 38, a resident of Barangay Layong Mabilog, Maragondon, Cavite City.

Mayames said the suspect was arrested at around 12:30 p.m. inside the THA Building located at the corner of Buendia Avenue and Taft Avenue, Barangay 49, Pasay City.

He said Patrolmen Delmar Mayoya and George Hilario,  both members of the QRT, were conducting routine patrol in the area when they were approached by a concerned citizen regarding the illegal sale of a firearm inside the building.

The city police chief said Mayoya disguised himself as a security guard and approached the suspect.

Mayames said the suspect showed the .45 caliber pistol with magazine placed inside his backpack to Mayoya.

But when Mayoya asked for the pertinent documents such as the  License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF), Firearm Registration, and Permit to Carry Outside Residence, the suspect failed to show them.

He was immediately arrested and detained at the police custodial facility and was charged for illegal possession of firearm.
