BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested on Monday, May 6, a 38-year-old man for allegedly a raping a 14-year-old girl in Las Nieves town, Agusan del Norte province.
Police Regional Office 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said the suspect, alias Tor, was nabbed at 12:55 p.m. in Purok 4, Barangay San Mateo here by the Butuan City Police Office-Station 5.

Ometer said the suspect was caught on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 1, Butuan City dated October 26, 2023 for violation of Republic Act No. 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act and two counts of qualified rape as amended by RA No. 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997).
Bail for the RA 7610 case was set at P180,000. No bail was recommended for the qualified rape case.
Police said the victim was allegedly raped by the suspect on January 1 and July 21, 2023.
“The suspect was completely surprised when the arresting team arrived in reported area, and he did not resist arrest,” Ometer said.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft commended the operating unit for the arrest of the suspect who had been hiding for the past several months.
“It is the goal of the police to protect the most vulnerable sector of the community, thus there is no slowing down in our campaign to arrest those individuals involved in abusing women and children.”
