House Deputy Speaker Quezon 2nd district Rep. David "Jay-jay" Suarez has asked the country’s senators not to use their positions for the purpose of bolstering their chances in the upcoming May 2025 mid-term elections.

Suarez made this appeal even as he continued to assail the Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa-led investigation on the so-called "PDEA leaks" issue, wherein President Marcos had been implicated.

"Ito lang word of caution lang doon sa--again paalala lang doon sa mga kaibigan natin sa Senate (This is just a word of caution--again just a reminder to our friends in the Senate)," he said during a press conference Wednesday, May 8 at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City.

"Let's please be more prudent with what we're doing, let's focus on the real issues that affect the Filipino people," Suarez said.

"Alam naman natin na eleksiyon sa susunod na taon. Kaso huwag naman natin gamitin yun posisyon natin sa anumang bagay in aid of re-election," said the deputy speaker.

(We know that we'll be having the elections next year. But please let us not use our position in anything in aid of re-election.)

"If you want to talk about drugs and this issue, those are hard topics that should be taken with a word of caution," Suarez said.

"Let's use our position for the betterment of the Filipino people," he told the senators.

Suarez is part of the so-called "Young Guns" bloc in the House of Representatives.
