DigiPlus profit surges 358% to record P2 B

DigiPlus Interactive Corp. (DigiPlus), the fast-growing digital entertainment group in the country, saw its net income surge by 358 percent year-on-year to a record P2 billion in the first quarter of 2024.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, the firm said its sustained profit momentum was fueled by the robust performance of its digital retail segment.

Revenues jumped 226 percent from its year-ago level to P13.6 billion as user traffic in its flagship platforms BingoPlus and ArenaPlus continues to grow combined with fresh contribution from new game offerings. Meanwhile, EBITDA jumped 313 percent year-on-year to P2.1 billion.

To diversify its digital entertainment portfolio, DigiPlus continues to introduce innovative and exciting product offerings that cater to a variety of demographics and lifestyle preferences.

“We intend to sustain our growth momentum by continuing to invest in innovation and new technologies to enhance user experience and adding new digital offerings traditionally well- loved by Filipinos,” DigiPlus President Andy Tsui said.

He added that, “By delivering innovative, fun, and accessible digital offerings, we aim to continue revolutionizing the entertainment space in the Philippines.”

The firm said that it is eyeing more brick-and-mortar sites for its games like bingo while boosting its online experience though the launch of new games and a more engaging website.

“This is part of our brand building. So BingoPlus will become this entertainment hub for the locals. So people recognize our name, and can play either on site or online, become more like entertainment,” said Tsui.

He said Digiplus plans to add non-gaming elements in its website such as movies, sports channel that stream live content — “so people when they think about entertainment, they will think about Bingo plus.”

Digiplus currently owns 140 bingo sites across the country. It also operates online games and plans to launch more digital offerings in the coming months, to maximize user delight and enjoyment within the gaming ecosystem.

“This 2024, we are geared towards increasing DigiPlus’s reach and depth in the growing gaming market. With the help of exciting and pioneering technology, DigiPlus hopes to unlocks boundless new forms of digital entertainment experiences for our users,” Tsui said.

For their online business, he noted that, “We maintain only the good performing sites. But in the future, we might still add a few sites if we find the right location. We still want to expand, because we want to build some flagship sites.”
