CEBU CITY – A policeman died after the motorcycle he was driving rammed a parked truck in Barangay Poblacion, Sibonga town, southern Cebu on Tuesday night, May 7.

The fatality was identified as Police Patrolman John Anthony Quintao, a native of Siaton, Negros Oriental and assigned to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Central Visayas (RMFB-7).
According to the Sibonga Police Station, the truck driven by Tereso Sumbaquil dela Rosa, 44, was parked by the road with its hazard lights on.
Police said there were no early warning devices placed near the back of the truck.
The policeman was taken to the Carcar District Hospital where he was declared dead.
The truck driver was detained at the Sibonga Municipal Police Station. He is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
The RMFB-7, which is based in Sibonga, condoled with the policeman’s family.
"His bravery, courage, and countless contributions will be honored in our hearts forever,” the RFMB-7 said in a statement.
