According to the City Health Department, a total of 16,371 children were protected against polio.

A total of 661 children (0-23 months old) and 15,710 (24-59 months of age) were targeted for immunization after missing some doses in the past year.

Navotas was the first among the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) to reach its target.

“The polio vaccine is safe and effective. Let us ensure that our children are protected from vaccine-preventable diseases by making sure that their immunization is updated,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.

The vaccination campaign will continue until May 15.
