Mayor Ramon Oñate said that the initiative is part of his campaign promise during the 2022 elections.

"Everything started with dream to help and cope with the dreadful medical expenses shouldered by the
families of local patients with mandatory dialysis services in Palompon, Leyte," he said.

In partnership with JL Dial Med Dialysis Center and PhilHealth, the Palompon Dialysis Center opened on Monday, May 7.

"This is one of the classic examples of working together is much better than working alone. The benefits it provides to the community increases exponentially because of the shared power and authority," Oñate said.

Dialysis patients from Palompon and other municipalities in the fourth district only need to present the minimum requirements to avail of the service.

The Palompon mayor said that the LGU has allotted P12 million to fund the center with the aim of catering everyone who needs its services with the help of PhilHealth.

"This is just the beginning. The success of its opening relied so much to the strategic partnership of LGU-Palompon with other government agencies and private company to ensure that government resources are shared appropriately to provide optimum health services to the public."

Oñate noted the possibility of an expansion, considering that neighboring municipalities in the fourth district, Albuera, Isabel, Merida, and Matag-ob, are interested in replicating the initiative to cover more locations.
