Women's group Gabriela on Saturday, May 11 praised "It's Showtime" host Vice Ganda and his "Piliin mo ang Pilipinas" (Choose the Philippines) video entry, which instantly became viral in social media.
The group described the entry as a "timely and patriotic" message during "economic crisis and foreign intervention."
"Vice Ganda's bold stance in raising awareness on social issues such as the traffic congestion and commuters' struggle in the country, protests concerning the PUV modernization program, the infamous Torre de Manila that photobombs the Rizal Monument in Luneta Park, the resort that was built in the Chocolate Hills in Bohol, and the water cannon assault by China Coast Guard in the West Philippine Sea is timely and commendable," Gabriela said.
"In times of crisis, it is crucial for influential figures like Vice Ganda to use their platform to uplift and empower Filipinos, instilling a sense of patriotism and solidarity in facing the challenges that confront our nation," it added.
The TV host went viral on May 10 after posting his "Piliin mo ang Pilipinas" video entry. The content addressed various issues and controversies in the Philippines.
As of writing, the video has garnered 978,000 reactions, 24,000 comments, 100,000 shares, and 8.8 million views on Facebook.
On TikTok, the video has accumulated over 700,000 reactions, more than 28,000 comments, and more than 21,000 shares.

Moreover, Gabriela urged all Filipinos to listen to Vice Ganda's message of choosing the Philippines and embracing a spirit of patriotism and "resistance against foreign aggression that seeks to undermine our sovereignty."
