The Provincial Government of Bulacan observed the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial 2024 on Monday, May 6, at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, in the City of Malolos, to raise awareness and encourage support in the fight against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or AIDS.

A message of solidarity was delivered by Provincial Health Officer Annie Balingit and presented updates on the ongoing battle against HIV and AIDS.

Balingit underscored Bulacan's dedication to providing accessible healthcare services, particularly through mobile healthcare services, and advocated for the rights of individuals living with and affected by HIV.

Gov. Daniel R. Fernando also reaffirmed the province's commitment to fostering a workplace environment that is free from the shackles of HIV-related stigma and discrimination.

Serving as an annual tribute to the lives lost to AIDS, the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial drew thousands of participants who offered candles adorned with the prominent red ribbon.

The memorial also served as a platform to recognize the unwavering dedication of those who tirelessly support individuals affected by HIV, aiming to mobilize communities in solidarity.

With approximately 38 million people living with HIV worldwide, the event aimed to break down barriers of stigma and discrimination, offering hope to new generations.
