37 areas may have ‘dangerous’ heat index on May 7


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 37 areas in the country may have “dangerous” heat indices on Tuesday, May 7.

PAGASA said a heat index of 46°C may be felt in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, followed by a heat index of 45°C in Clark Airport in Pampanga; Cuyo, Pangasinan; and Virac, Catanduanes. 

A heat index of 44°C may also be experienced in Bacnotan, La Union; Aparri, Cagayan; Tuguegarao, Cagayan; Baler, Aurora; Casiguran, Aurora; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Roxas City, Capiz; Iloilo City, Iloilo; and Catarman, Northern Samar. 

In Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City; Iba, Zambales; Aborlan, Palawan; Masbate City, Masbate; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) in Pili, Camarines Sur; and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte, a heat index of 43°C may be recorded. 

PAGASA may also record a heat index if 42°C in Science Garden in Quezon City; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela; Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo; Sangley Point, Cavite; Alabat,  Quezon; Coron, Palawan; Dumangas, Iloilo; Catbalogan, Samar; Tacloban City, Leyte; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Davao City, Davao del Sur; Cotabato City, Maguindanao; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
