Sisi Rondina has two reasons to celebrate over the weekend.

Not only she and the Choco Mucho Flying Titans found themselves back in the finals of the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference but her former collegiate team, the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses, also booked a finals trip in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball on the same night.

“Nakaka-proud yung mga bata ngayon. Pinakita nila na hindi pisikalan yung volleyball. Puso at trabaho talaga ang nagdala,” Rondina said after learning of the Tigresses’ mastery over the De La Salle in the Final Four.

Interestingly, the last time that the Tigresses made it to the finals was five years ago in Season 81 during Rondina’s final year with the squad. They fought the Ateneo Blue Eagles, but lost the crown in the deciding Game 3.

Rondina, who won the MVP Plum, the 2nd Best Open Hitter, the Best Scorer and the Athlete of the Year awards that season, is confident the Tigresses could pull off this time.

“Proud ako sa mga coaches ng UST kasi sila din yung nagtanim sa mga batang yan. Deserve nila yan and sana ma-maintain nila yan hanggang dulo. Alam ko namang palaban ang mga yan,” Rondina said.

UST faces the winner between National University and Far Eastern University, who are battling for the remaining finals ticket on Wednesday, May 8.

The Tigresses seek to win their first title since ruling Season 72 in the 2009-2010 season.
