Property developer, power distributor ink Iloilo City power supply agreement

ILOILO CITY – Electric distributor MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) and major property developer SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SM Prime) have inked an agreement for stable power supply in this city.

The signing of the Interruptible Load Program (ILP) last week was in response to the warning from the Department of Energy (DOE) that the country's power situation has reached crisis levels.

“We recognize the gravity of the situation and are committed to doing our part in supporting the nation’s energy resilience,” said MORE Power President and CEO Roel Castro in a statement.

“In times of crisis, it is crucial for businesses to collaborate with utilities and government agencies to ensure the stability of our energy supply,” said Engr. Teodoro S. Bautista, vice president for SM Engineering Design and Development.

The ILP seeks stability to the Visayas power grid and reduces the possibility of massive power blackouts similar to that in January.

With the ILP, companies under SM Prime voluntarily reduce their electricity consumption when the grid is at risk.
