DOLE, DTI team up to promote digital skills of Philippine workforce

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have teamed up to underscore the crucial role of digital capabilities in elevating the country's workforce.

DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma met with Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual to discuss areas for collaboration, among them are the efforts on digital education, and the development of workers.

To empower Filipinos with the essential abilities to excel in the global market, the DTI is converting its Negosyo Centers into digital learning hubs.

Pascual stressed the importance of embracing technological advancements and utilizing digital platforms to establish innovative and sustainable employment opportunities for Filipinos.

The officials also deliberated on implementing the DOLE-DTI initiative for Enterprise Development and Livelihood Assistance, which was established via a memorandum of agreement signed in May of the previous year.

The partnership, supported by the International Labor Organization (ILO), strives to develop a strong employment structure centered on creating jobs, ensuring quality, and promoting sustainability.

The program is designed to enhance job creation and foster the growth and competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) and industries by improving their access to a range of business services.

It includes training, technical support, financial aid, livelihood support, business advice, shared facilities, and marketing and distribution services.
