Clark Airport records heat index of 50°C on May 6


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Clark Airport in Pampanga had experienced a “dangerous” heat index of 50°C on Monday, May 6.

PAGASA said 32 other areas experienced heat indices under danger levels including Dagupan City, Pangasinan at 47°C. 

In Virac, Catanduanes, a heat index of 46°C was felt, while a heat index of 45°C was felt in Aparri, Cagayan; Iba, Zambales; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Cuyo, Palawan; Roxas City, Capiz; and Iloilo City, Iloilo. 

A heat index of 44°C was also felt in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Bacnotan, La Union; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Baler, Aurora; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and Aborlan, Palawan. 

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City; Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela; Casiguran, Aurora; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo; Dumangas, Iloilo; Catarman, Northern Samar; and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte had a heat index of 43°C. 

A heat index of 42°C was felt in Science Garden, Quezon City; Sinait, Ilocos Norte; Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Sangley Point, Cavite; Alabat, Quezon; Catbalogan, Samar; Tacloban City, Leyte; Davao City, Davao del Sur; Cotabato City, Maguindanao; and Butuan City, Ilocos Norte.
