Athletics team bags 3 golds in Hong Kong tilt

National record holder Hoffman timed in 57.15 seconds to secure the gold medal in the women’s 400m hurdles finals while compatriot Robyn Brown took the silver in 57.59sec.

They beat hometown bets Ying Wen Ashleigh (1:04.02) and Cosette Leung (1:07.96).

In women’s 100 meters, SEAG multi-medalist Knott proved her mettle after clocking 11.52sec for the top spot.

Hong Kong’s Pui Kei Chan (11.82) and Tsz Yuen Luo (11.86) settled for silver and bronze, respectively.

Loraña, on the other hand, registered 1 minute and 52.11 seconds to secure the gold and bested six other competitors in the men’s 800 meters. American Sean Fontaine (1:53.11) reaped the silver while Hong Kong’s Mohammad Kamran (1:53.60) went home with bronze.

Meanwhile, PH leaper Janry Ubas tallied 7.61 mark to bag the bronze in the men’s long jump.

The competition served as springboard for the Philippine athletics team as it is set to compete in the 2024 Philippine Athletics Championships here in the country on Wednesday, May 8.
