200 households to get water reconnection amid P5-M bill in Taguig

An initial 200 households in Taguig will get their water supply reconnected after it was cut off due to unpaid bills that reached P5 million.

The Taguig City government, through its City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other barangays, have been rationing water in households in Barangay Post Proper Southside, which is now part of Taguig, and Barangay Pinagsama.

Households in the two barangays have faced a water crisis after their water supply was disconnected.

Mayor Lani Cayetano said the city government held discussions with barangay leaders and requested the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and Manila Water on the issue of reconnecting the households to the water supply.

As a result, Manila Water agreed to install individual meters to about 200 households located near or along the water source from the main road.

During the San Vicente Ferrer Feast, Cayetano spoke about the water crisis in Palar Village, Barangay Post Proper Southside.

She said the individual metering is better compared to the situation wherein the control of the water supply is being held by a few groups or families.

The mayor said the problem is the failure of those who were in charge of the water supply to pay Manila Water the amount of P5 million in water bills.
