Fajardo, who turned heads by scoring two straight technical knockout victories in the tournament, succumbed to hometown bet Yerassyl Tankay in their Men’s U22 Light Welterweight (63.5kg) semis clash where the referee halted the bout in the second frame.

The pride of Talisay, Cebu went down in the opening round as his Kazakh rival fired a powerful left hook that proved lethal and enough to stop the fight early on.

Another son of Talisay, Baricuatro came short for a finals spot after yielding to Indian Suresh Vishvanath in the men’s U22 minimumweight (48kg) semifinals.

Malunoc, on the other hand, almost pulled himself up to the men’s youth minimumweight (48kg) final round. However, Tajik Muinkhodzha Muminov snatched the win via split decision, 4-1.

Meanwhile, Jara suffered a knockout loss in the second round to Mongolian Enkhasaikhan Oyun-Erdene who secured his ticket in the men’s junior bantamweight (54kg) final round.
