26 areas experience ‘dangerous’ heat indices on May 5


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 26 areas experienced “dangerous” heat indices on Sunday, May 5.

PAGASA said Aparri, Cagayan and Guiuan, Eastern Samar had a heat index of 47°C. 
 

It also said Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, and Dagupan City, Pangasinan had a heat index of 45°C, followed by a heat index of 44°C in Bacnotan, La Union; Tguguegarao City, Cagayan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Daet, Camarines Norte; Virac, Catanduanes; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) in Pili, Camarines Sur; and Roxas City, Capiz. 

In Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Cuyo, Palawan; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Catbalogan, Samar, a heat index of 43°C was felt. 

A heat index of 42°C was also recorded at Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Casiguran, Aurora; Baler, Aurora; Alabat, Quezon; Mulanay, Quezon; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Masbate City, Masbate; Tacloban City, Leyte; and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte.
