P571-M illegal drugs seized in Central Visayas from January to April

CEBU CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) confiscated more than P500-million worth of illegal drugs from January to April.

The PDEA-7 reported illegal drugs worth P570.7 million were seized in various operations in Central Visayas from January 1 to April 28.

Confiscated illegal drugs include 83.88 kilos of shabu, 5.95 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 12,540 marijuana plants, and 205 ampoules of Nubaine.

Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7, said that anti-illegal drugs operations in Region 7 have been unrelenting.

The PDEA-7 intensified its efforts in dismantling drug dens. Alcantara disclosed that 19 drug dens in Central Visayas have been dismantled so far this year.

Twelve of the dismantled drug dens were in Cebu City, Alcantara said.

Alcantara said dismantling drug dens is crucial in the campaign against illegal drugs. She added that drug dens are breeding grounds for violence and criminality.

“Dismantling drug dens are high impact operations,” said Alcantara.
