Malabon government hosts 'Gabi ng Pasasalamat 2024,' honors program contributors, supporters


The Malabon City government conducted the “Gabi ng Pasasalamat 2024” to recognize outstanding Malabueños, contributors and stakeholders in supporting the effective implementation of programs in the city.

The event was held at the Rizal Park Hotel, Manila, on Saturday, May 4.

The city government honored the 79 individuals, government agencies, and organizations from various industries for their roles in implementing programs, projects, and ordinances in improving the services for the residents.

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval was earlier cited as one of the outstanding public servants and one of the top performing National Capital Region (NCR) mayors for 2023.

“Sa ating Gabi ng Pasasalamat 2024, nais nating pasalamatan at kilalanin ang mga natatanging Malabueno, organisasyon, ahensya, mga indibidwal, at iba pang mga grupong walang sawang sumusuporta sa mga proyekto at programa ng iba’t ibang departamento ng pamahalaang lungsod na siya ring nagiging dahilan upang maipatupad natin ang mga ito ng maayos, epektibo, at naaayon sa mga pangagailangan ng mga mahal na Malabueno, tungo sa patuloy na pagunlad ng kanilang mga buhay at sa pag-ahon ng Malabon (On our Night of Thanksgiving 2024, we want to thank and recognize the outstanding Malabueno, organizations, agencies, individuals, and other groups tirelessly supporting the projects and programs of various departments of the city government, which are also the reasons for us to implement them properly, effectively, and in accordance with the needs of the beloved Malabuenos, towards the continuous development of their lives and the upliftment of Malabon),” she said.

Meanwhile, City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said that the event aims to honor outstanding citizens in promoting culture, history and recognizing top economic contributors that helped the city's economic growth.

Rosete added that the awards were introduced and presented for the first time in the city’s history.

“Ito ay ginanap upang mas mapabuti at mapalakas ang pagbibigay ng serbisyo sa mga Malabueno na siya ring magiging inspirasyon at maghihikayat sa mga residente na makilahok sa mga programa at proyekto ng lokal na pamahalaan para sa kanila. Ating kinikilala ang mga organisasyon ng sa gayon, sila ay mapasalamatan sa kanilang mga tulong at suporta sa ating hangaring makapagbigay ng tuloy-tuloy at magagandang serbisyo sa mga Malabuenos (This was held to further improve and strengthen the provision of services to the Malabuenos, which will also serve as an inspiration and encouragement for residents to participate in the programs and projects of the local government for them. We recognize the organizations so that they may be thanked for their assistance and support in our aim to provide continuous and excellent service to the Malabuenos),” Rosete said.

According to the city’s public information office, the “Epifanio Delos Santos Gawad Parangal” was one of the awards in the said event to recognize the outstanding residents for their significant contributions in social work and their dedication to the city’s social, cultural, and community development.

The award was created to honor the legacy of Epifanio Delos Santos, who is a Malabon journalist, writer, historian, and civil servant.

It added that the award also coincides with the city’s 425th Foundation Day on May 21.

Moreover, the Malabon Ahon Media Awards were given to exceptional journalists, reporters, news anchors, and media organizations for their support in disseminating accurate information about the city and effective programs to the public.

It also added that the entrepreneurs, businesses, companies, and commercial establishments were also recognized by the City Business Process and Licensing Office (BPLO) for their collaboration with the local government in implementing various projects related to social welfare, healthcare, economy, and tourism.

Furthermore,  they were commended for their tax payments that fund city projects, their involvement in planning and launching beneficial programs for residents, and their contribution to local employment.

The city government also recognized their partners in nature conservation,  disaster management, community-based drug rehabilitation initiatives, education, legal assistance, employment, housing, and health programs.

The awards were given to recognized agencies and organizations during the event.

Senate President Pro-Tempore Loren Legarda, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Atty. Romando Artes, City First Gentleman Ricky Sandoval, city councilors, department heads, representatives and officials of different organizations, and other guests graced to the said event.
