Heat index in 24 areas hits 'dangerous' levels on May 4


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 24 areas experienced “dangerous” heat indices on Saturday, May 4.

PAGASA said a heat index of 48°C was felt in Aparri, Cagayan, followed by a heat index of 47°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, and Virac, Catanduanes.

 It also said a heat index of 44°C was recorded in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; and Bacnotan, La Union. 

A heat index of 43°C was felt in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City; Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Baler, Aurora; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Daet, Camarines Norte; Masbate City, Masbate; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) in Pili, Camarines Sur; and Roxas City, Capiz. 

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela; Casiguran, Aurora; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo; Sangley Point, Cavite; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Cuyo, Palawan; Dumangas, Iloilo; Catbalogan, Samar; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur; and Cotabato City, Maguindanao had heat index of 42°C.
