Don't give your money! Scammers out there are posing as Speaker Romualdez

If you're being asked for money by House Speaker Martin Romualdez or his office, chances are that it's a scam by an unscrupulous and enterprising individual. 

The office of the Speaker issued a public advisory Saturday, May 4 on "scam attempts using Speaker Martin Romualdez's name". 

"We have been made aware of fraudulent activities conducted by individuals who are impersonating Speaker Martin Romualdez. These scammers are reaching out to his friends, acquaintances, and the public through phone messages, falsely claiming to represent Speaker Romualdez," read the public warning. 

"These fraudulent schemes involve the impersonation of Speaker Romualdez, with scammers typically requesting money under the pretense of urgency confidentiality," the office shared. 

"The office of Speaker Martin Romualdez strongly condemns these fraudulent practices and is collaborating with law the to identifly and prosecute enforcement agencies perpetrators," it said in an obvious warning to the fraudsters. 

"We remain committed to safeguarding the public and maintaining the integrity of our office," it further said.
