Suarez was accompanied in the distribution at the Barangay Cotta covered court by wife Alona party-list Rep. Anna Suarez who assured assistance to the poor through the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the House of Representatives led by House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Two-hundred five college students received educational assistance totaling P1.125 million through the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 4-A at Saint Anne College Gymnasium.

Suarez reminded AICS recipients and the students to use the money wisely.

Meanwhile, Suarez warned barangay officials here who prevent their constituents from using public facilities for public events.

Suarez said recipients of the AICS financial assistance from Barangay Dalahican had to use the covered court of Barangay Cotta because they were barred from using the same facility in their barangay.

“Instead of saving some money because you no longer have to ride a tricycle coming here, you have to spend precious money,” Suarez said.

"What is worse is that barangay officials make their life more difficult and seem to make an effort to make national projects' implementation challenging," Suarez added.

Suarez said he is being politicized and barangay officials are being used to the disadvantage of residents.

"These barangay officials will have to be responsible for their actions and I will call the attention of the Department of the Interior and Local Government for proper disciplinary action regarding this unacceptable behavior of some village officials," Suarez assured.
