Mayor Honey, Rep. Tieng to break ground for new Manila Cancer Center

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Fifth District Congressman Irwin Tieng will jointly lead the groundbreaking ceremony for the five-storey building of the Manila Cancer Center (MCC) in June.
During the "MACHRA Balitaan" forum of the Manila City Hall Reporters' Association (MACHRA), Tieng announced that he and the lady mayor will be joined in the occasion by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Congress' senior officials, and other Manila congressmen.
The MCC, a first in the city, will provide free medical services for those suffering from cancer.
"Libre po siya sa lahat ng Manileños (It's free for all Manileños)," Tieng reiterated.
MCC will be located inside the compound of the Ospital ng Maynila and will be named after the late Gov. Benjamin "Kokoy" Romualdez, the father of Speaker Romualdez.
Tieng cited the generosity of Lacuna-Pangan when she decided to allot 2,000 square meters for MCC.
Ospital ng Maynila is one of six public hospitals being run by the local government providing free medical services to the residents of Manila.
MCC, according to Tieng, will have significant equipment for cancer patients such as CT scan and a linear accelerator to provide patients with non-invasive radiation therapy.
The mayor thanked Tieng for supporting her administration's efforts to provide a wide range of free health services for those who cannot afford them.
