Police Capt. Hazel Tuazon, DCPO spokesperson, said that an unidentified male went back to his seat to retrieve a shoebox placed inside a bigger box while the other passengers were alighting from a Rural Tours Bus during a routine inspection in the checkpoint.

She said that the suspect, wearing a black shirt, threw the shoebox behind the bus and immediately escaped while the passengers and nearby residents panicked.

Tuazon said that personnel from Task Force Davao immediately secured the area and found several sachets of suspected shabu in an inspection of the shoebox.

She said authorities are pursuing the suspect.

The bus was bound for this city from Cagayan de Oro but the suspect boarded in Bukidnon.

This was the biggest amount of shabu confiscated by police authorities in Davao this month.

Last May 3, authorities seized shabu with an estimated value of P5,489,844 in a buy-bust operation conducted by the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao in Purok 2, Camus St. in Barangay 9-A.
