Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-5, said that seven M16, one M16 rifle upper receiver with incomplete accessories, one M203 grenade launcher, one M14 rifle, and one sniper rifle were discovered.

"Citizens reported the presence of hidden weapons in the area, prompting a well-coordinated investigation by the involved units. Their swift and strategic actions led to the successful retrieval of the following items," Calubaquib said.

Calubaquib said that the weapons stash was believed to have been buried by Romeo Nepalis, alias Ka Bokno and Mar, commanding officer of the Sub-regional Yunit Gerilya (SRYG), Noel Olavides, alias Myra, vice commanding officer of SRYG, and Jeffrey Sesno, alias Encrypt and Fox, a former member of SRYG now with the Komiteng Larangang Guerilla 1 of the Sub-Regional Committee 5.

"The recovery of these weapons preempts their potential use in activities that could endanger innocent civilians," Calubaquib added.

Police Regional Office-5 chief Police Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon commended the police and military for a successful operation.

Dizon reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening anti-criminality efforts and ensuring the safety and security of the people in the Bicol region.
