Paris Olympics-bound Filipino gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Levi Jung-Ruivivar received a bit of a financial boost from the office of Speaker Martin Romualdez ahead of their participation in the quadrennial games.

Head Executive Assistant of the Office of the Speaker, Director V Lemuel "Muel" Romero, personnally awarded the cash assistance to the two gymnasts simple rites held at the House of Representatives.

The amount of cash assistance given to the two athletes weren't disclosed.

"Every one of our athletes has shown remarkable dedication, resilience, and excellence, representing the Philippines on the world stage with immense pride and honor," Speaker Romualdez said in his message to Yulo, 24; and Ruivivar, 18.

"We are here to support you in every way possible, ensuring you have the resources needed to succeed in Paris," added Romualdez.

This gesture followed the meeting that Romualdez had last May 22 with a delegation of Paris-bound Filipino athletes led by Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas President Monico Puentevella.

During the meeting, the House leader also gave financial assistance to other members of the Olympic delegation, including weightlifters John Ceniza, Eireen Ando, and Vanessa Sarno, as well as rower Joanie Delgaco.

The rest of the Filipino athletes who will represent the Philippines in France will receive financial assistance from the Office of the Speaker.

Romualdez has expressed his profound admiration for the athletes' hard work and their inspirational journeys.

“Each one of you has faced numerous challenges and made countless sacrifices to reach this point. Your dedication and perseverance are commendable, and you carry our nation's hopes and dreams with you,” Romualdez earlier said.

“This financial support is more than a reward; it is a symbol of our belief in your abilities and our commitment to your success. Your victories inspire hope and pride in every Filipino, and you exemplify the power of passion and perseverance,” he added.
