The Bureau of Customs (BOC) and local industry leaders convened for the first general assembly of the Customs Industry Consultative and Advisory Council (CICAC).
The assembly aimed to streamline customs clearance processes, achieve revenue targets, and address industry-specific challenges, the BOC said.
Led by Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, the event gathered over 200 key industry leaders and stakeholders, emphasizing a unified dedication to advancing Customs reforms and national progress.
In partnership with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII), leaders and stakeholders from 17 District CICACs signed a manifesto of support.
The manifesto endorsed BOC’s initiatives and underscored the crucial role of private sector’s support in achieving the objectives of President Marcos’ “Bagong Pilipinas” campaign.
The assembly highlighted the collaborative efforts between public and private entities, demonstrating how they can lead to mutually beneficial outcomes.
Cecilio K. Pedro, FFCCCII president, commended the BOC for spearheading reforms and emphasized the importance of continued participation in paving the way for reforms and changes that facilitate trade and businesses.
Additionally, Rubio stressed the importance of collaboration for improved customs administration, reaffirming BOC’s commitment to driving positive change and advancing the nation’s interests.
