The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) donated one unit of backhoe to the Pasay City government on Wednesday, May 29.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano personally attended the turnover ceremony held at the Villar Sipag Farm School in Las Piñas City, which was witnessed by Senator Cynthia Villar and other government officials.
Rubiano said the backhoe will help maintain the cleanliness in the city and continuous rehabilitation of Manila Bay through dredging, desilting, and collection of submerged waste.
“Allow us to extend and express our immense gratitude and appreciation for the Backhoe on Barge, as well as the countless forms of help, assistance, and support. Definitely, together, everyone achieves more (TEAM), leaving us and the general public Empowered, Motivated, and Inspired. (EMI),” Rubiano said.
The mayor also said the backhoe is very much needed in cleaning operations to prevent flooding in the city this rainy season.
