235 couples marry in Zamboanga mass wedding


ZAMBOANGA CITY --  A total of 235 couples were married during a mass wedding in Zamboanga City on Thursday, May 30.

MORE than 200 couples were married in a mass wedding in Zamboanga City. 

All 235 pairs participated in a wedding march as they entered the Tetuan Coliseum, the venue of the solemn ceremony.

Mayor John Dalipe was the solemnizing officer in the civil wedding while House Majority Leader and Zamboanga City Rep. Mannix Dalipe served as one of the principal sponsors.

The couples partook of cake and toasted glasses of wine after exchanging marriage vows.

Rep. Dalipe distributed a sack of rice each to the couple as wedding gift.

The Dalipe brothers and city councilors also provided cash gifts to the youngest and oldest couple and two couples with the most children.

Among the departments that participated in organizing the mass wedding were the Office of the City Mayor, City Housing and Land Use Management Office, General Services Office, and the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Also present were Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja and Councilors Jimmy Villaflores, Jerome Santos, Jihan Edding, Jordan Evangelista, VP Elago, and CJ Dalipe.
