Vice Mayor Dodot slams online scammers using his name and his office

Pasig City Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski on Friday, May 3, slammed online scammers who have been using his and his office's name to gain access to e-wallets and social media accounts of their victims.

The Office of the Vice Mayor recently received numerous complaints by individuals who were victimized by the scammers who are using a dummy page that looks exactly like his and his office's official Facebook pages.

"Ang kanilang modus? Nagpapakilala sila bilang Dodot Jaworski at humihingi ng mga personal na impormasyon tulad ng mga one-time passwords mula sa inyong e-wallet accounts at social media accounts (Their modus? They pose as Dodot Jaworksi and ask for personal information such as one-time passwords (OTPs) of the victim's e-wallet accounts and social media accounts)," Jaworksi explained.

He advised the public to avoid falling prey to these scammers by ignoring messages coming from unknown Facebook accounts especially those asking for personal information.

He also urged netizens to always verify the veracity or authenticity of the account.

"Hindi po dapat ito personal account kundi isang page at isa sa paraan para makita ang pagkakaiba ay ang official Facebook page lamang natin ang may LIVE videos ng ating mga pagbisita sa Oplan Kaayusan (This should not be a personal account but a page that contains LIVE videos of our Oplan Kaayusan visits)," he added.

The vice mayor reminded the public to always be cautious in providing their personal details online.

"Hindi po kailanman manghihingi ang Office of the Vice Mayor ng inyong mga personal na impormasyon mula sa social media. Lahat po ng ating official transactions, lalo na ang mga request sa financial assistance, ay dadaan lamang sa ating opisina (The Office of the Vice Mayor will never ask for your personal information through social media. All our official transactions, especially those requesting for financial assistance, are processed only in our office)," Jaworski stressed.
