Drug pusher killed in Batangas shootout

SAN JUAN, Batangas – A suspected drug pusher was killed in a shootout during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Lipahan here on Tuesday night, May 28.

Police here set up the operation against the suspect, Balut.

However, Balut realized that he was dealing with police officers and drew a gun and fired at them.

Lawmen returned fire and hit the suspect in the right thigh and was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. 

Recovered from the suspect were five grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P34,000 and his .38 caliber revolver firearm.

Meanwhile, an employee of an e-commerce company was arrested for allegedly smuggling suspected shabu from a warehouse in Laguna on Wednesday morning, May 29.

The contraband discovered during an inspection was concealed in a black plastic bag and had an estimated weigh of 3.9 grams and a standard drug price of P26,520. Also recovered from the suspect was drug paraphernalia.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
