Five people were hurt in three different road accidents that occurred in Barangay 461, Sampaloc, Manila, on early Tuesday, May 28.
In a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from Barangay 461, the first accident occurred at around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, when a motorcycle and other vehicles were stopped at a red traffic light at the Lacson Avenue corner of Loyola Street in Sampaloc.
The footage showed that while all vehicles were on a stop, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) hit a motorcycle in front of it.
According to Barangay 461 personnel, the SUV driver said that the traffic light was already green when he started moving and that he did not noticed the vehicles in front of him still on a stop.
They added that the two drivers have already settled.
Meanwhile, a second accident occurred at around 2:45 a.m. in the southbound lane of Lacson Avenue at the corner of Fajardo Street, where a motorcycle rider hit the back of an L300 van.
The Manila Police District (MPD) Vehicular Traffic Investigation Section (VTIS) said that the van stopped at a traffic light when a motorcycle suddenly hit the back of it, causing the rider to fall to the ground and sustain physical injuries.
Authorities said that the rider was allegedly drunk.
He was then brought to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
Less than an hour later, another motorcycle accident occurred at Lacson Avenue corner of Loyola Street again, where a motorcycle hit a group of kids who were crossing the street.
Barangay personnel said that the rider tried to avoid two kids, but his front wheel still hit one of the pedestrians.
The pedestrian, rider, and passenger all sustained physical injuries and were immediately treated by authorities.
