A woman was rescued after climbing an electric post and sitting atop it by members of the Antipolo City government in Sitio Gipit, Antipolo City, Mayor Jun Ynares announced on Tuesday, May 28. This was the second time that the woman, who appeared to be suffering from depression, scaled an electric post.

According to Ynares, the woman, identified as Mylene Dungo, had previously climbed the electric post where she was rescued from by the local government personnel.

However the following day, she scaled another post again, prompting rescuers to do another rescue job

It was later found out that Dungo has post-partum depression (PPD).

Post-partum depression is a mood disorder experienced after childbirth. Its symptoms include extreme sadness, low energy, anxiety, crying episodes, irritability, and changes in sleeping or eating patterns.

The mayor explained that Dungo had been brought to a hospital in Mandaluyong multiple times, but was always discharged after answering the doctors' questions properly.

"Kaya katuwang ang social worker from Barangay San Jose, nag schedule tayo ng check-up para kay Nanay Mylene sa psychiatrist natin sa Hospital Annex 4, Barangay Mambugan, Sumulong Highway para matutukan ang kaniyang kalagayan (With the help from a Barangay San Jose social worker, we scheduled a psychiatrist check-up for Mylene at our Hospital Annex 4 in Barangay Mambugan, Sumulong Highway, to observe her medical condition)," Ynares explained.

The city's Social Welfare Department (CSWD) will also conduct an interview assessment with Mylene's husband to figure out ways on how the city may help her and her family especially with her situation.

According to experts, the symptoms of PPD can occur at any time in the first year postpartum.
