KIBUNGAN, Benguet – Authorities discovered a marijuana plantation in this town on Monday, May 27.

A MARIJUANA plantation is discovered and destroyed in Benguet on May 27.
Five-hundred fully grown marijuana plants and 20 kilos of dried marijuana stalks with fruiting tops worth P2.5 million were uprooted and burned onsite by joint operatives of the Kibungan Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Division-Police Regional Office Cordillera, Provincial Intelligence Unit and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Benguet Police Provincial Office, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- Cordillera Administrative Region.
Samples were taken to the Regional Forensic Unit-Cordillera for qualitative tests.
Police are conducting follow-up investigation to identify cultivators.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old laborer was arrested for allegedly transporting marijuana in Tinglayan, Kalinga, on May 27.
Police said the suspect, a newly identified drug personality, was flagged down in a checkpoint and an inspection of his vehicle yielded seven bricks and one tubular form of suspected dried marijuana leaves and stalks with fruiting tops with a standard drug price of P840,000.
Inventory and markings of pieces of evidence were conducted onsite in the presence of the suspect and witnessed by a Department of Justice representative, media representative, and a barangay kagawad or councilor.
