Over 36 areas may experience 'dangerous' heat index on May 29

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 36 areas may still reach a heat index that is considered “dangerous” on Wednesday, May 29.

A heat index of 45°C may be experienced in ISU Echague, Isabela; Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; and Catarman, Northern Samar.
Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Sangley Point, Cavite; Tacloban City, Leyte; and Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte may experience a 44°C heat index.
PAGASA added that Aparri, Cagayan; Casiguran, Aurora; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Cuyo, Palawan; Masbate City, Masbate; Catbalogan, Samar; Borongan, Eastern Samar; and Maasin, Southern Leyte may have a heat index of 43°C.

Meanwhile, a 42°C heat index may be recorded in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Pasay City, Metro Manila; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte; Bacnotan, La Union; NVSU Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; Baler (Radar), Aurora; Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Infanta, Quezon; Alabat, Quezon; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Romblon, Romblon; Daet, Camarines Norte; Legazpi City, Albay; Juban, Sorsogon; CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur; Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental; Panglao International Airport, Bohol; Mactan International Airport, Cebu; and Siquijor, Siquijor.
E. Samar to reach 53°C heat index
PAGASA said Guiuan may experience a 53°C heat index, possibly marking the area's fourth consecutive day of "extreme danger" heat index levels.
PAGASA said a heat index above 52°C indicates “extreme danger” as “heat stroke is imminent.”
