Makati City Mayor Abby Binay on Tuesday, May 28, took her oath as a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) which is eyeing her inclusion in the party's senatorial lineup for the 2025 national and local elections.

Binay's husband, Makati City 2nd District Rep. Luis Campos, administered the mayor's oath at the NPC Clubhouse in Quezon City. Also present were NPC president Rep. John Michael Duavit, NPC secretary general Mark Llandro Mendoza, and Rep. Jaime Cojuangco.
The NPC recently signed a coalition agreement with President Marcos' Partido Federal ng Pilipinas party.
“I am grateful to the NPC leadership and my party mates for their trust and confidence. The mid-term election is still a year away. For now, I will continue to fulfill my pledge to my beloved Makatizens to continue making our services better and promoting our city as a major tourist and investor destination,” Binay said as she appealed for a renewal of purpose among political parties.
“The issues facing our country should be seen as a chance to work together and find common purpose rather than opportunities to sow division,” she added.
“As leaders and as Filipinos, we should work together to address these issues and make things better for our countrymen,” she added.
In January, Binay said she sees her husband as her successor in Makati and expressed belief that her husband could sustain the upcoming local projects for Makati.
"Malinaw naman. Marami pang projects na kailangang gawin after 2025. Isang tao lang naman yung aking napagkakatiwalaan na gagawa nun at walang iba kundi yung asawa ko (It's very clear. There are more projects that need to be implemented after 2025 and there is only one person I can trust to do the job and that is none other than my husband)," the mayor said.
Binay said she is still giving herself time to plan her next political move. She is on her final term as mayor of Makati City.
“I can go national, I can run for Congress, I can run for the Senate, I can run for mayor, I can decide not to run di ba? I can become a full-time wife, I can study. So, maswerte ako na may ganung options, kaya medyo mahirap mamili kung ano yung magiging o yung tatahakin nating landas (I'm lucky to have such options, so it's a bit difficult to choose what option or what path I should take),” she said.
