Expect rains in western parts of C. Luzon, W. Visayas due to southwesterly wind flow — PAGASA
The southwesterly wind flow, a precursor of the approaching rainy season, is currently prevailing and may bring rains to some areas in the western sections of Luzon and Visayas in the next three days.
In the 11 a.m. weather advisory on Tuesday, May 28, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwesterly wind flow will bring moderate to heavy rainfall to Palawan and Occidental Mindoro until Thursday, May 30.
Moderate to heavy rains may also affect Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras until Wednesday evening, May 29.
Likewise, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Bataan until Thursday, while Zambales may experience moderate to heavy rainfall as early as Wednesday evening and continue until Thursday.
PAGASA warned that flooding and rain-induced landslides are still possible, particularly in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards, as identified in hazard maps, and in areas that have received significant rainfall over the last few days.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.
According to PAGASA, the rainy season could officially begin by the first half of June.
